This is my first blog... i ask for Hindu Muslim peace basically...there are many people who think its not possible... I am among them :) yeah but we need to convince ourselves...
If we keep teaching our kids what we heard from our parents then either my kid or yours will be killed in a Hindu Muslim riot down the line... is that what we want ?

:) There is a interesting incident my Grandmom narrates... My family has a concept of a 'muslim' and a 'good muslim'... let me tell more... she was stranded one night at a lonely bus stop and started to ask for help out of panic. Then this guy came running to her and consoled her and he knew my grandpa since he was a well to do guy. So he took her to his home where his wife offered sharbat (Indian for lemonade). He was a 'Good muslim' she adds... She dint take the drink as she was apprehensive of its hygiene... She said that she had cold so wouldnt take it... Later the gentleman escorted her to my grandpa's house...

The thing about human psychology is that it fears the unknown. And bad news spreads far and travels fast. If we hear a lot of bad things about some thing we assume it is true by default. We hear bad news all the time, from friends, newspapers etc. So for us it is natural to think negative. More negative a unknown quantity becomes more natural it seems ... So when you have been hearing negative things about muslims all throughout your childhood then it is very tough to replace with reality.

So even if my grandmom might not have had a bad experience with a muslim personally. And she had this good example on the contrary, her image of a muslim is so strong that this guy who helped him becomes a 'good muslim' (an exception).

It is a sad situation. But things are looking up...Time heals... and as I interacted with my good friend on this topic he enlightened me that India is now becoming more open minded... Religion is more of an option then a possession... Not that religion is a bad thing... just that it isnt so important anymore...People are getting judged on what they are and what they have done instead of where they are from... Hope my friend is correct...
